Bright Sunshine falls on the DF65 Runners

Monday 27 Feb – Series 2 Race 2

Today we had a North-Easterly breeze of 5-12 knots that swung between North and East. We opted for a long running start to separate the fleet at a distant first mark and then sailed the equivalent of two triangles with a short downwind finish. As we were getting through the first two races quickly another lap was added.

Martyn Clark (793) was off to a great start in Race 1 being the only one to catch a good puff giving him a big break at the first mark. But as often happens, the wind gods took away his advantage on the upwind leg.

Ian Proctor (823) sailed well to take the overall first place with 4 wins and a second. Despite struggling in Races 6 and 7, Ian finished a full leg ahead of the fleet in race 8.

There was close racing at the front of the fleet with only 2 points separating second to fourth places. Paul Heaney (422) just took second overall with 2 wins and 2 seconds on countback from Alan Nash (56) who had consistent results with 4 seconds. Martyn Clark (793) was just behind in fourth with 2 wins and a second.
