Exciting Times For GMYBC Sailors at the RCL Nationals at Poole
Four GMYBC RC Laser Sailors, David Jackson, Ralph Schofield, Chris Moore and Jeremy Kindell, went to Poole on the 24th and 25th September, for the RC Laser National and Southern area Championships, which were held on Longham lakes. Unfortunately the weather was atrocious, with extreme winds and driving rain on Saturday. Although the rain did hold off on Sunday and for most of the day it was sunny, however the wind increased even further with even the D rig overpowered. There were also large waves which made tacking and gybing very difficult.
David, Ralph, and Jeremy dealt with the extreme conditions very well, Jeremy would have done better but unfortunately when he was 2nd in one race he miscounted and did another lap, which dropped him to last. Unfortunately I just couldn’t get to grips with the conditions and only started 4 races and then preferred the dry and warm clubhouse!!
The Final results for the Gosport team are
David 6th
Ralph 7th
Jeremy 8th
Chris 18th
There was a draw for 5 new sails at the AGM but unfortunately none were won by any Gosport member.
I would like to say I enjoyed it but due to the weather I can’t!!
However, Pool MYC did an excellent job of running the event, despite the conditions.
