DF 65’s Monday 13 Dec – Series 1 Race 2
The weather was not as miserable today (only 0 degree C!) but almost no breeze. After a wait for the breeze to decide which way it would blow, we set a course with a reaching start and a long leg windward leg to the North East. After our well earned coffee break after Race 4 we added a new windward mark to give us a windward start and finish.
John Smith (277) had some good early form showing the importance of a good start winning Races 1 and 4. Richard Filer (35) also lead some early races but unfortunately managed to hit the leeward rounding mark 3 times. If that wasn’t frustrating enough, Richard was singled out by a seagull that dropped something all over his transmitter in Race 6 and caused him to retire.
There was some match racing between Ian Proctor (823) and Paul Heaney (422) for the last couple of races where they were always with a few metres of each other.
Ian Proctor was our overall winner today with 4 wins and a second with Paul Heaney second with 2 wins and 3 seconds. Adrian Wallis (81) was third with a consistent 3 seconds and 3 thirds.
