A light Breeze for the DF65’s

Saturday 1 Feb – Sat South Race 3
A light South-Easterly was forecast. It was a little lighter than expected with the breeze from the North-East, then the East. We had some races with one lap and a windward finish for the first couple of races. The wind lifted to 5-8mph after our break and we set a new course to the South-East.
We had a reasonable turnout of 10 boats so we didn’t have a dedicated Race Officer. Ian Parker (819) put in a better performance today with 5 fifth place finishes and Bob Wilson managed a third in Race 2. It was tight at the top of the fleet, as usual, with 4 boats having 2 wins each.
Paul Heaney (422) was our winner today with 2 wins and 2 seconds. Second on countback (same results but last race to decide) was Ian Proctor (823) with 2 wins and a second. Third was David Donin (334) also with 2 wins and a second. Its a shame that David’s boat played up just before Race 2. Alec Powel (83) was just one point behind in fourth also with 2 wins and a second. Martin Clark (793) was fifth with 3 seconds.
