Vane A Racing, Sunday August 25th
Light to moderate SE winds and very hot temperatures were forecast for the 25th. Four boats came to the line, two fresh from the championship week at Fleetwood. Everyone used full rigs, and the boats looked superb in the sparkling summer weather.
Graham and Ray’s Bantock designed Lance started by taking the first beats, as did Peter and Paul’s Hollom designed Reference Point. In subsequent heats, Peter and Paul took both beats and runs, to take the overall win ahead of Graham and Ray by the end of the morning. Jacque and Eric, sailing their Simpson designed N’lightened, followed in third place by just a point, while Mervyn and Deano’s Zest struggled somewhat to find form, and despite some very close finishes came in last.
