Vane A Met & Southern Regional Gosport England

A few Gillian Pearson photos of an exciting & close competition – Commentary Authored by Paul [Member of winning team]:

The racing was good today, a good westerly breeze building as the day progressed.
Peter and Paul won today, at the end of play three boats were on thirteen points, Peter/Paul, Shaun Wyeth, Susanne/Andy.
We had to go to count back, Susanne and Andy lost out on number of beats won, while Peter/Paul and Shaun tied all the way through the event.
We had to have a sail off. Two beats and a Run to decide who would win. If there was a tie on the two beats a run would be needed, yes the two beats we each won one, so a run was to decide the winner of the Met and southern completion.
The wind was now quite a lot stronger, but after some deliberation spinnakers were the order of the day for the run downwind, both boats luckily had a vane 36 spinnaker in the bag so they were the choice of sail, Peter won the toss for the windward or leeward berth, the leeward berth was chosen. Off the boats went, and the leeward boat gained a boat length over the windward boat, at the knuckle by the clubhouse thankfully both boats got a lift so no retrims were required, the leading boat lifting higher and faster made it to the finish line three meters ahead. Winner.
Great fun.
The result.

Thanks to Graham Wyeth R/O for the day and to Jacque Cook for organisation of event and prizes.
