Radio A’s Welcome New Member

Gillian Pearson’s  Report & Photographs

Radio A helms and spectators enjoyed sunny warm weather for the Sunday competition. Wind conditions were tricky albeit a fair breeze lasted for most of the day. A large course, reminiscent of the old Olympic “triangle /sausage with a few marks” was set to enable boats to spread out and sail tactically.

It was great to see Richard Utley’s “Spear No 70” making its debut; it looks to have a very promising turn of speed and as glitches were sorted Richard’s finishing positions improved throughout the day.

Commodore Derek [No 80] was on great form and pulled away from the following pack in most races with some good battles with both David [ No 97] and Paul [No 21]. Mike [No 49] and Trevor [No 24] also had some great results.

Bob appeared to struggle sailing Gill’s boat [No 11] with its new modified radio but according to Gill nothing that new sails would not fix!

Thanks to Paul for sorting out the marks, course and demonstrating the art of buoy throwing.

All in all a very pleasant days sailing.
