It Doesn’t Get Closer Than This!!!

Decided on Countback

After 14 races, 126 heats with 37 different helms competing, the winner of the DF65 Monday 1st Series had to be decided on count back as both Paul Heaney (422) & Ian Proctor (823) both had a total of 15 points to count.

In the last race Ian had to win to be in with a chance. The scene was set with a lovely sunny day and a 12-18mph breeze from the West which gradually moved to the North-West. There was a good turnout of 21 boats with a combination on A+ and A rigs. The course was a triangle and sausage up the middle of the lake.

Ian showed his class with 5 wins and a second. Second was Adrian Wallis (81) with a win and a second despite a problem with his new A+ rig. Third was Chris Flewitt (182) with a consistent set of results.

Paul Heaney appeared to still be jet lagged after his month away in Australia as he only managed a 7th.

However, on count back this was still enough for Paul to be the first DF65 series winner of the year – well done Paul and Ian for his spirited fight back.
