GMYBC 2023 Club Open Event Sunday 12th March
It is intended to be an event where everybody enjoy themselves, meets & interacts with members from other classes and savours homemade cakes & other refreshments.
The plan for the day is for each RC Class to sail a number of class races in the morning to establish who should represent that Class in the afternoon event. The running of these races including OOD, observing & finishing will be undertaken by members of one of the other classes. There should be enough time to have a minimum of 3 races for each class in the morning session.
Following lunch, the top three boats from each class will represent that class in a series of pursuit races with the winning Class & individual taking home the goodies at the prizegiving whilst enjoying the aforementioned refreshments at the end of the day.
It is intended for the day to be a fun day with the racing not to being too serious but undertaken in such a way as all competitors respect the limited manoeuvrability & speed differential of the various classes.
Due to the nature of the Event our Vane Sailors will not be racing their yachts but hopefully they will be attending over lunch and willing to give the RC sailors a demonstration of the intricates of setting up and sailing a Vane.
If any of you are closet “Bake Off” contestants please bring along your Signature Bake for the delectation of those attending the Event.
So please support the event, put it in your diaries in Bold Letters and indicate to your Class Captain your willingness to participate. For those who race in more than class, I would ask you to choose to race in the class which is numerically the smallest of those that they support – evening out the entries in each class. Racing starts at 1000hrs with a briefing at 0940hrs
