DF 65’s Monday 2 Jan – Series 1 Race 4
What a lovely day to go sailing after the cold, wet and windy weather we’ve had recently. We had a 5-10 knots breeze from the South-West with the sun shining (though still a bit cold!).
Unfortunately, we lost Martyn Clark (793) early with a connection issue and Richard Filer’s boat (35) didn’t like tacking.
We had the usual tussle between Ian Proctor (823), Paul Heaney (422) and Mike Kemp (270) for the top places taking all the wins between them. Ian Proctor just took the overall win today with 3 wins and 2 seconds. Paul Heaney was second overall with 4 wins but poor performances in two races caused the difference in their Officer of the Day average points. Mike Kemp had a win and 2 seconds with one win snatched away from him when he got into irons just a few boat lengths short of the line.
It was good to see Ian McInnes (49) back in the fleet and he put in a good performance finishing fourth overall.
