Monday 16 Jan – Series 1 race 6
The overnight heavy rain had cleared but it is still very cold and windy. The forecast, depending on your source, was for 17-28 knots from the North-West. However, it didn’t look too strong on the lake and most of the fleet started on A+ rigs. The gusts became stronger and more frequent making downwind legs as nightmare. By race 5 most of the fleet was on A rigs with a couple of B rigs.
Ian Proctor (823) persisted with his A+ rig for all 8 races, and although overpowered at times, managed 4 wins and a second to be our overall winner today. Paul Heaney (422) had to recover from a couple of restarts to have a win and 3 seconds to be second overall. Richard Filer (35) managed to hit three marks and, I think, 5 penalty turns to still manage 2 wins finishing third overall. Adrian Wallis (81) had some consistent results finishing a point behind in Fourth.
