A Brilliant Days Sailing!
Many thanks to all those who turned out to sail and a particular thanks to Graham Wyeth who as he had no crew acted as Race Officer. It was gusty which needed two to work a boat. We had a whale of a time winning and not winning….. Malcolm with mate Paul Edwards dropped 2 points to Peter, Mervyn and Andy and 2 points to Jacque and Eric but otherwise sailed really well to an unassailable first place. Mervyn, Peter and Andy with 16 points came second and Jacque and Eric came third with some favourable wind shifts and exciting ‘I wish I had not had done that’ from the opposition……The birthday boy, is he really that age?????? Had a less than exciting day. Re-sails and spinnaker settings took their toll BUT Anthony and Lester did have some very close calls. Their spinnaker runs were exiting, to say the least and finishes were very close. This should have led to a better position but hey ho next time it will be all change. We are lucky that at Gosport we have such an experienced and skilled vane fleet. Well done everybody: Excellent practice for Fleetwood. Wee race again with Vane A’s on the 12th July and on the 26th (which is a league) who will join us for the practice?????
