A great evening’s sailing was enjoyed by the 5 skippers turning out for Round 3 of the RC Laser Thursday evening series.

‘B’ was the rig of choice in  a largely steady south westerly on the main lake.  However there were sufficient shifts to keep everyone on their toes.

Course legs were kept short, a start line placed just to the west of Mark 4, a beat to 3, reach to 5 and a closer reach back to 4 followed by a sausage leg back to 4 and short beat across the finish saw 3 different race winners from the 6 heats.

Paul Nesbitt was marginally more the consistent claiming the overall win with 8 points net followed  by John Smith (10), David Swainson (12) and Terry Mason (14).  Not really reflected in the scores was how close Sam Nesbitt had come as he had been improving with every heat.

As we had been making good time the course was extended to include an additional triangle for the last 2 races, interestingly bringing about even closer finishes than earlier

Just as the final heat was finishing, kids playing on the south bank allowed their football to run into the lake so as we were about to take the last 3 boats off the water, Paul, David and Terry became involved in a demonstration of guiding  a football back against the breeze to the south bank.  An interesting challenge, well done lads.
