Colin starts as
he finished!
14 hardy skippers
turned out for the first event of 2015, the RC Lasers a.m. series.
Supported by
Chris Durant acting as part time line judge and Carol Moore completing the
remainder of the races, an enjoyable morning’s racing got the season off to a
good start.
In a substantial
WSW wind the only real question was whether to use C or D rigs. Those that
stayed with C occasionally found themselves flattened by the gusts.
Even in such
conditions, it was a testament to their staying power and some extremely close
racing was evident.
A look at the
final score sheet shows that Colin Cooper took first overall, Denis Bookham was second, Chris Moore third and Lawrie Draper fourth. They were separated from each other
by just one point Colin with 15 down to Lawrie on 18.
The testing
conditions also showed that it was far from a 4 horse race as there were 5
different heat winners over the 8 race event.
So Colin gets off
to the best possible start in defence of his Combined Radio Points title.
Thanks to all those who turned up in some pretty hairy conditions.
