Race Report RA Easter Cup – 5 April 2015

The initial very light winds increased during the morning and veered to the south east. The light winds with calmer patches provided some very close racing and finishes. Our class captain Paul Edwards had to alter the course several times with the shifting wing direction.

With the variable wind conditions there were a number of place changes, particularly at the marks and on the beats. Regularly, boats started well, but then lost places or vice versa.

There were five different winners over the twelve races and these skippers finished in the top five places overall.

First was Lester Gilbert, second Peter Fothergill (sailing Chris Durant’s Gunboat), third Mike Nichols, fourth Derek Morland, fifth Paul Edwards, sixth John Smith, seventh Graham Wyeth, with Allan Oxlade eighth.
