Multihulls Round 4 – 14 March 2015 Race Report

With a weather forecast of a cold force 3 to 5 north easterly there was the question, as to which rig to use. The fleet was divided about which rig to use initially, as it was windy with strong gusts that resulting in several capsizes. The wind dropped a little during the day, with the strong gusts becoming less frequent and some competitors changed to their top or 2^nd rig. The capsizes, several collisions and electrical problems factored in the results.

It was Paul Edwards, who had the best breakfast, won the first three races and race 8. The fourth race was won by Peter Fothergill, together with races 7 and 9. However, it was Andy Cleal who showed us all how it should be done, by sailing fast and keeping out of trouble, with five firsts, two seconds, two thirds and a fourth to count.

At the end of the racing the overall points were close with both Andy Cleal and Peter Fothergill on 19 points and Paul Edwards on 21 points. Andy’s and Peter’s tie on points was broken with Andy’s five firsts over Peter’s three. Paul Edwards was 3^rd, Lawrie Draper 4^th, Andy Fernie 5^th and Graham Wyeth 6^th.
